Bethany

In 1953, after briefly gathering at Lakewood Elementary School, the congregation purchased the property on 6282 Oram Street from East Dallas Christian Church for the cost of $21,000.

By 1955, the members of the church had raised sufficient funds to build a larger, new sanctuary on the Oram Street location, and on January 16, 1956, the new worship center was dedicated. A few years later, Jenkins Fellowship Hall was named in memory of Melinda Jenkins, a member who went home to be with the Lord after battling cancer.

Since 1952, the neighborhood has evolved, membership has ebbed and flowed, and several pastors have had the honor of leading the church. Yet, the commitment to faithful teaching of the Bible, a missional love for the surrounding community, and a dedication to sharing the goodness of Christ has always endured at the center of Bethany Christian Church.

The actual building remains one of the last standing pre-millennial structures in the Lakewood area. We are proud to maintain this valuable piece of heritage.

At Bethany Christian Church, we open our doors and hearts to extend a loving invitation to all ages, ethnicities, genders, and ways of life.

Though a small congregation, our heart extends all over East Dallas. We work to extend God’s grace to the sick, needy, lonely, elderly and burdened. Please let us know how we can act as the hands and feet of Christ to meet your needs.

Bethany Christian Church welcomes all household animals on our grounds. Please feel free to use our front lawn for fetch, Frisbee, and Fido’s other favorite things.

We love all our furry, feathered, and amphibious friends. We offer a blessing of the pets on an annual basis to celebrate the life and joy of all God’s creation.

We are located in the heart of Lakewood in East Dallas, Texas across from the Wells Fargo Building on 6282 Oram Street Dallas, TX 75214.

We hold weekly worship service, baptisms, and other celebratory occasions in the Sanctuary. We house our various ministries, Bible Studies, and outreach events in Jenkins Fellowship Hall next to the Sanctuary. Parking is available in the back and on the streets.
